OTC market gets a kick-start in straight-through-processing requirement

OTC derivatives are a growth industry worldwide. Last year they had a total notional value of more than $248 trillion, which was almost 13% up on 2003.

The biggest derivatives market is in interest-rate products. In 2004 it grew by 13.6% to $ 187 trillion, most of it being in swaps.
